ABOUT LEAF & TREE

Some Zodiacal force carried me north – laid me down right here before you.
I came into this world a Cancer through and through.

I was lost. You’re a map. The sun draws like a shade; draws my eyes into you.

Walking by the old misty river I heard the sweetest sound.

The mind’s only a shell.
Time cannot stand still.

There’s a ghost in my room and for some reason I’ve been thinking of you. In my thoughts, my dreams, my bed – you’ll never return again.

I won’t be your alibi. You’re singing but I seem broken.
Just walk away. Times like this just exist to haunt us.

A glowing starting within you, a fire out in the snow. Burn, burn.

We’ve passed over the seas, we’re seeing new stars. There’s a modular arithmetic shining off of our cars. The floors creak, the spirits sigh, the door on the side of the house looks through time.

There’s an ‘X’ on your chest, you’re the next one in line.
A shadow’s exposed as a train thunders by.
Its doppler explains what’s so hard to define: it’s a moment – a single and still frame.

I learned about you – this cast of characters – it took so long but now I’m sure.

Lord knows I’ve been gambling all my life.
